Low Impact for Fragile Joints
Warm water buoyancy reduces joint stress, allowing dogs with arthritis or injuries to move comfortably while staying active and supported.
Builds Strength Without Overload
Water resistance creates a full body workout that tones muscles and boosts endurance without placing weight or strain on recovering limbs.
Improves Range of Motion and Flexibility
Controlled underwater movement encourages natural limb flexion and extension, helping dogs loosen stiff joints and move more freely in daily life.
Supports Recovery After Surgery or Injury
Hydrotherapy starts earlier than land exercise, improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and helping dogs heal faster with less risk of re-injury.
Encourages Confidence and Engagement
Therapists use treats and encouragement to keep dogs relaxed, focused, and happy so sessions are positive and progress builds naturally.
Move Unleashed is more than a hydrotherapy centre. We offer a full range of evidence-based rehabilitation services to help animals move better, recover faster, and live with less pain. Alongside underwater treadmill therapy, our expert team provides animal biomechanical medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic and osteopathic treatments, and structured rehabilitation plans tailored to your pet’s condition.
Whether your dog is post-surgery, slowing down with age, or a performance athlete needing maintenance, we use a mix of hands-on therapies, data driven exercise programs, and natural pain relief techniques to support their progress. Every treatment is designed by qualified professionals like Dr Ilona Hudson, who brings advanced training in veterinary medicine, biomechanics, rehabilitation and Traditional Chinese Medicine into every session.
This holistic approach ensures your pet gets the physical and emotional support they need to heal well and stay well.
Custom Rehabilitation
Each rehabilitation program is tailored to the specific needs of the animal, focusing on recovery from surgery or injury and aiming to restore full range of motion.
Locally Supported
We collaborate with Noah’s Ark Vet to provide clients access to state-of-the-art facilities, diagnostic equipment, and a team of skilled veterinary surgeons.
Experienced Leadership
Led by Dr. Ilona Hudson, a veterinarian with advanced studies in equine medicine, animal biomechanical medicine, acupuncture, and rehabilitation.
What to Expect
Gentle Assessment and Introduction
Your dog’s first session begins with a full assessment to understand their health, comfort, and mobility. We use calm body language and gentle encouragement to help them feel supported and safe as they explore the space. This initial trust-building experience sets a positive tone for future visits and ensures your dog is calm, relaxed, and ready for the next phase of their recovery journey, no matter their age or health level.
First Hydrotherapy Session
Once your dog is comfortable in the space, we begin their first hydrotherapy session in the underwater treadmill. Warm water relaxes their muscles while the slow, controlled movement improves mobility, flexibility, and strength. Our trained team offers support, praise, and encouragement throughout to help your dog feel confident, calm, and reassured during their very first time in the water.
Positive Reinforcement Throughout
To help create a positive experience for your dog, we use toys, tasty treats, and gentle encouragement during every session. These make the water feel fun and rewarding for your dog. Our team reinforces calm behaviour with praise, helping to reduce stress and build confidence over time. This playful, supportive approach ensures your dog is relaxed and happy, and eager to return for their next session.
Ongoing Monitoring And Support
As your dog continues to heal and progress, we carefully monitor their movement, comfort, and strength. If additional support is needed, we may incorporate therapies such as acupuncture, targeted rehabilitation exercises, or chiropractic care. Each step is overseen by our veterinary team and customised to your dog's individual needs, ensuring a safe and effective recovery with long-term wellness

"My dog is anxious and hates water..."
That’s okay. We use gentle handling, warm water, and positive reinforcement like treats and toys to help dogs relax and enjoy each session.
"Isn’t this just swimming?"
Not at all. The underwater treadmill provides controlled movement in a supported environment, ideal for rehab, arthritis, or building strength without strain.
"What if it makes things worse?"
Our therapy is guided by trained professionals and overseen by veterinarians. We assess every dog first and tailor the plan to their condition and comfort.
"I’ve already tried other treatments."
Hydrotherapy often works when other methods don’t. Because it removes pressure on joints and builds muscle safely, it’s especially helpful for chronic issues. It may also enhance other therapies.
"Is this just for dogs who’ve had surgery?"
Not at all. We help dogs of all ages and abilities, from puppies with joint issues to seniors with stiffness, and even performance dogs staying in peak form.
Real Pets. Real Progress.
"Help Me To Avoid Surgery For My Baby"
After being recommended to Move Unleashed, we were blown away by the care and treatment our puppy received. The appointment included a variety of therapies like red light therapy, physiotherapy exercises, stretching, and even acupuncture. They also gave us tailored advice on his diet to support his healing.
The difference was noticeable immediately—his leg and paw were holding up straighter, and he seemed more comfortable. By the end of the appointment, we were assured that surgery wouldn't be needed. We were also given exercises to continue at home, ensuring his recovery stayed on track.
We’re so grateful for the expertise and holistic approach at Move Unleashed. Our puppy is on the mend, and we couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend them for any pet needing rehabilitation or care.

"Chronic Care and Neurological Support"
For over 4 years now the wonderful team at Move Unleashed have assisted with so much more than simply the health and well-being of our lovely Lola (Dane Mastiff cross):
Regaining her movement from prior injury.
Being an incredible guide and support throughout a serious neurological episode.
Maintenance and relief of arthritis and other age related conditions.
I cannot recommend Ilona and her team highly enough to anybody who is interested in the well-being of their animal companion.
I know that she has already been crucial in bringing about more vitality to Lola and definitely extending her days with us for at least 2 years now and counting…

"Veterinary-Level Holistic Expertise"
I've been taking my border collie, Robbie, to Ilona at Move Unleashed since 2020 for biomechanical adjustments (acupuncture/laser), first in Medowie and now at her new location in Mayfield. Ilona is absolutely fantastic – her knowledge, skill, and genuine care for animals are unmatched.
She always takes extra time to ensure Robbie is comfortable and explains everything thoroughly, so I understand what he’s experiencing. Robbie is completely at ease with Ilona, even during acupuncture.
Not only does Ilona take great care of Robbie, but she also makes me feel comfortable and welcomed every time we visit. She’s always happy to answer questions and she gives honest advice on what needs further attention. Without Ilona, Robbie would be stiff and in pain. Thank you for helping me give him the best life possible

"Won’t Be Disappointed"
"Highly Recommend"
Bailey Technology did all that was expected with a solar installation, explaining the system and installing with an excellent young team of workers. The process from quote, government grant application to install was done with excellent communication and explanation. I would highly recommend.

Sessions typically run for 30 to 45 minutes, including settling time, treadmill therapy, and a towel-dry. We always go at your dog’s pace.
Just your dog, their usual treats if preferred, and a towel. We’ll guide you through everything else when you arrive.
Yes. Owners are welcome to stay and watch. Many dogs feel more comfortable with their person nearby during early sessions.
That depends on their condition and goals. Some dogs benefit from a short block of sessions, while others join long-term maintenance plans. We’ll talk this through after your assessment.
Absolutely. Hydrotherapy integrates well with pain medication, acupuncture, laser therapy, and chiropractic care. We build a multimodal plan that works in synergy with your vet’s treatment recommendations.
We monitor improvements using joint range of motion, gait quality, stride length, muscle tone, and post-session recovery markers. Progress is discussed with owners and shared with referring vets when applicable.
If your dog is stiff, sore, recovering from surgery or just not moving like they used to, we’re here to help. At Move Unleashed, every program starts with a detailed assessment and is tailored by our expert rehab team.
With veterinary guidance, gentle hydrotherapy, and a supportive approach that dogs love, we’ll help your pet regain strength and comfort, one step at a time.
